I've had a few requests....

...To update my blog. And to show some pregnancy photos. For those of you who didn't know we are expecting baby boy #2 on January 25th. My guess is he will join our family sometime in February. Just a guess, not hoping for it, but just being realistic.

Both requests are completely overwhelming becuase I need to share the entire year of 2011 and I haven't taken any belly photos this pregnancy. The one motivating factor that actually has me typing is that I feel it's only fair to my unborn child that I document something on his behalf. Maybe he'll smile on me from high and greet us sooner...just maybe.
It just so happens I was pregnant for almost the whole year...so I'm totally killing 2 birds with one stone here.

In February we got a dog. A chocolate lab. Named her Cedar.

This was our first day with Cedar. It was like Christmas morning all over again. I'll never forget how much we used to love her. Ha, just kidding. It was a special day for all of us though, unforgettable.

This photo is just funny. Chris was avoiding the diapering, lotioning, and clothing routine after bathtime for a while and wanted to ride his horse instead. That was ok with us because now we have this photo for blackmail sometime in the future.

In March we got a fence. Dont worry, it goes all the way around the house.

We took some family photos in April.

Chris has always been such a helper in the kitchen. I think he just got done cleaning a bowl of chocolate when I took this picture.

I went with Craig to Vegas for his PA conference this year. I happen to be pregnant in this picture.

We got to go to Pawn Stars. It was cool. We didn't see Chumlee though.

I ran a half marathon in June. I am pregnant in this picture too. Only 6 weeks though.

We went to California this summer to visit Nana.

While we were there we went to Yosemite. Another preggo pic. 11 weeks.

We also took a drive out to the Redwoods and saw the Giant Sequoia trees. As you can see from the picture there are 4 tall people and one big kid stretched out across the trunk of this tree and we still didn't reach end to end.

They made a walk way through this giant tree. And here's a close up preggie pic!

Chris had a good time helping Daddy out in the garage this summer.

And then Chris turned 2 in September!

He had a little helper opening presents. And here's a total belly shot of me! I'm around 5 months pregnant.

We planted Canna Lillies in the front flower bed. Here you can see how tall they grew. Almost as tall as Craig. Luckily I got this picture before we cut them all down. And you can also see how big Cedar is now.

I have dusted off my sewing machine and found me a little pregnancy hobby. Here you can see an almost finished quilt for Chris's big boy bed. (I really wish I were more of a blogger but I would really rather be sewing something. And that is something I never thought I'd hear myself say).

Santa brought Chris a hoop and we couldn't be more pleased, especially becuase we dont have to make a hoop with our arms for him anymore. And this is a total belly shot of me. See that baby poking out there?

Ok really here's the only profile belly photo I've taken and it's straight off the digi today. Totally fresh. 37 weeks.

First Day in the Snow...many many days ago

Here are the pictures of Christopher with his very first day playing in the snow. Now of course he had seen snow before and touched it...a couple times. But he had never been able to go out and play in it until one day in January after we got him in all his new snow gear.

He wasn't sure why I kept putting clothes on him.

But as you can see it didn't take long to have some fun.

The only thing is...he didn't really want anything to do with the snow...mostly just the snow shovel. (And I love this picture with the beautiful background scenery).

I have the funniest video of him pushing the snow shovel, and then he gets mad at it because it gets stuck on some ice, and so he bites it! Then he falls face-first in the snow! Sounds mean, but it's really really funny...and I've tried and tried to share it but it just won't upload. It's only about 2 min long...and suggestions?

Bad News

Due to the smooth sailing of Sarahs pregnancy after the early complications we made it public news with friends and family. Unfortunently, this last weekend we once again had complications. It looks like too much of the placenta was torn away for the baby to continue developement, in short we lost the pregnancy. We appreciate all the love and support that we have recieved from all of our family and friends and hopefully the next pregnancy will be better news and a lot less eventful in terms of complications.

Hi Everybody!
It's been about 4 months, so I guess it's time to blog again!
As you can see the background has been changed and there's also a widget up on the blog. Much thanks to Craig who made those changes, but never put any words of his own up on the blog. Silly guy, I think he's scared of all of you. I could tell him that if somebody makes him mad, I just won't blog for 4 months. ha ha

So anyway, we have something to say....we are expecting another baby this September! We are excited and for some reason I've been hoping it's another boy...which I think is why Craig put up the baby-blue background. I have really been trying to listen to my mothers intuition about if it's a boy or girl, but it hasn't said anything really clear yet, so I can't make an official guess. What I do know is that so far this pregnancy is very different from the last one, does that mean girl? As you can see from the widget, right now it's just an alien. An alien we already care very much about, and one who has already made us worry..we think it may have tried to escape already... But as of right now, things are going great! I will be posting pictures of the last few months soon...so stay tuned in, cuz they're pretty funny!

Uncle Paul

Hi everyone, it's Christopher, the star of the blog. I just wanted to take a turn and tell a story.
Once apon a time, Utah played BYU. We went over to my Uncle Pauls house to watch it. Even though I wanted to go through all the cupboards, and play with Harley, Uncle Pauls dog, I was really tired, so I took a nap and just dreamed about all the food I love to eat. (I can do run-on sentances in my story if I want.) I was so tired that I slept through the whole game! When I woke up I got to play with the Harley again and then I climbed up on Uncle Pauls lap to sing some songs. He's almost as good at singing 'Itsy Bitsy Spider' as my Mom is. My Mom's version is really intense and loud, but Uncle Pauls version is so relaxing. I got so relaxed that I let myself go. It took Uncle Paul a minute to realize what he made me do. I guess he got kinda relaxed too, with all the new warmth in his lap. But when he realized what happened he just passed me off as if I wasn't his favorite nephew anymore. Rude. Then he went swimming. I guess he needed to do something to wash off and work off his frustrations since his team didn't win the game. We all lived happily ever after, especially me!

Happy Halloween! We like to carve us some pumpa-kins in our family. This would be Christophers first experience with the pumpa-kin carvin.

He wasn't too sure about it at first...

Actually he didn't like it at all, as you can see me putting his hand in to touch the pumpkin guts.

We ended up with a wolf, a grave site, and a racoon jumping out of a jack-o-lantern.

Craigs most favorite time of year has come and gone. Hunting season! I'm glad he has something to show for it this year. He's been in school every year since we've been married and hasn't really been able to go. After 5 years of marriage, the term 'Hunting Widow' makes a lot more sense. You should really hear the story from Craig but, let's be honest Craig, you'll probably never make a post on our blog again. :) Love you though!
If he were to tell you how it went he'd say something about how he and his brothers got up at like 4 am and hike 20 miles up the mountain before noon everyday. And I think that's pretty much it. Ha

Christopher had a Birthday (his very first one!)

Chris's birthday was on September 30th. He weighed 25 lbs 9 oz and was somewhere around 31-33 in long. I don't even remember exactly. I know, I know that's so bad becuase I should be logging his stats in a scrapbook or something like that, right? All I know is he was off the charts again in all categories so it doesn't really matter how tall he is because it's pretty much garaunteed that he is bigger than your kid at this age. He is even bigger than his Daddy was at one (thanks to Grandma Yerke who kept a log in a scrapbook of all that stuff).

So anyway the big boy is ready to party!...regardless if he had 5 shots on party day.

But dinner is first. No problems here. Chris loves to eat!

I think Braydon likes Christophers hat. Either that or he's trying to show Chris his backhand.

Ok so that pretty much sums up the Yerke party. The next day was the Hutton party. But I guess Christopher was all caked out. He didn't want anything to do with it this time.

We may have gotten it all over him, trying to get him excited about it, but this was the outcome...so sad. But Grandma Hutton thinks it's pretty funny! (I was there too...it was funny.)

I kept trying to tell him not to cry, becuase like his hat says, 'It's FUN to be ONE'. But later, he told me it's his party and he'll cry if he wants to. I guess I can't argue with that.

Before and Afters

Uh, Hi. I don't know if you remember us, but we're the Yerkes. We haven't blogged in a while. I guess that's pretty obvious. I don't think we'll promise that we'll be better bloggers, because quite frankly, blogging frustrates me (Sarah). Just little things like how I accidentally deleted 5 photos I was going to share. Yeah, that's why I don't blog. Oh yeah, and there's that thing about the first photo you upload, becomes the last on your post...I always forget about that. Why can't the computer just know that the first thing I want to talk about comes first, and then everything else comes after that, in that order? Does anyone else feel that way? Or am I just so blogger un-savvy?

Well anyway, you don't have to answer that. Here are some before and afters photos of me trying to turn our house into more than just walls and a roof. Oh by the way, we bought a house in Stansbury Park, Ut. Moved in Jan '10. If you don't know where Stansbury is, maybe you've heard of Tooele? It's over there, about 20 min west of SLC. I like it because it's in the country; so we don't have all the traffic; and the views are awesome; but I can escape to the city in less than a half hour!

Here's great big empty wall. I put up the paper to see if the layout of photos was what I wanted.

And this is how it turned out. I love it!

This was the "rocking chair" I was using in Chris's room. To give it a little credit, it's called 'The Big Boy' and it is the most coveted camp chair around the camp fire. But it did lack the whole rocking aspect. And it was difficult to get out of when I was holding a sleeping baby.

I was just waiting for the rocking chair which I was given (thank you Jim and Heidi!) to be refinished. As you can see it was white, which didn't really go in Chris's room.

And I don't have a picture of the original pads but Jim and Heidi also gave us this baby swing with fabric that was almost identical. They had kids in the 90's when the teal with the pink scribbles was totally radical. (And we so appreciate them saving that stuff for us for when we could use it!)

But it didn't go in Chris's room either. So Craig painted the chair black, and I had the pads re-upholstered. (Any of you Stansburyians need any re-upholstering done, I know just the man to call...he charged me $25 for labor, fabric, and extra padding! I couldn't even find slip-covers online for less than $90. It's just a hobby of his that he does out of his garage. He's so sweet too.)

I don't think I ever mentioned that got a sewing machine for Christmas. Well I did. Eager for an easy project I made Craig a new surgical hat, which he is so beautifully modeling below. What a great accessory to his plain blue scrubs, don't you think?

Craig wanted in on the fun so he decided to make Christopher a hat too, which is also being modeled below.

Then Craig proceded to tie up the boy. I'm not quite sure why. Maybe since he had his new thinking cap on, he thought he would try a body cast. He does like to practice those things at home...

I know becuase I've been the guiney pig before...

When Daddy comes home it's time to play. Craig can always get the best laughs out of Christopher. (you will need to turn off the music player so you can hear his cute laugh).

Baby Yerke was born healthy on 9/30/09 at 5:56 pm weighing 8 pounds and 10 ounces and 21 inches long. And once again he had to be difficult and hold his breath and buy himself a NICU stay. Don't worry he is going to be fine. Just trying to scare us.

This is Sarah sporting the kid at somewhere around 7 weeks. As you can see I was not back from Utah yet and didn't actually even know that she was pregnant yet.

This is her at 19 weeks and may people at this time were either jealous or don't beleive that she is pregnant. I guess it pays to be 6'3'' and still growing

Okay so now I am starting to think that she is pregnant at 26 weeks. The good thing is that she is not puking after every meal or when I do something mildly gross. Oh the happy days.

Growth Spurt & Surgery

Craig had surgery on his shoulder about 3 weeks ago. He can count 3 times he has majorly dislocated it since he was 16, thank you trampolines. So he finally decided it was time to tighten up some tendons. The doctors found a little more damage than just some loose tendons however. They had to stitch his labrum back on too. So with the labrum stitched back on and the capsule tightened it should be back to normal after a 6 month recovery. The picture below was taken a few hours after he got home. He looks happy because his entire right arm is still numb. I didn't take a picture of him writhing in pain after the nerve block wore off. Craig has become quite ambidextrious. Look at him play the wii with his left hand! That was probably the first thing he learned.

This is me at 32 weeks. I've experienced a growth spurt in the belly over the past month. And the last time I was at the doctor's office I made the nurse measure how tall I am too. Growing up we would measure our height every 6 months. I haven't lived at home for quite a while. I must have had a growth spurt sometime between now and then because I'm now officially 6'3"! I may have been that tall for a while but now it's official.

These first two are the 3D of the face. He was being really difficult and not wanting to show us a whole lot. The pics aren't the greatest because he was wrapped up in the umbilical cord which created a lot of artifact.

This Photo to the left is a 3D image of the little guys right foot. As you can see he has 5 toes.

This last photo is a side profile with the normal ultrasound. Nice little round nose and connected lips, that all that matters right.

Graduation #1 Done

So Craig is officially graduated from Quinnipiac University despite the un-celebratory, un-graduated mood that the day held. That could be because Craig and all of his classmates still had to go to work the next day. They still have to get through the next two months of class, and they still have to make it through the PANCE (Physicians Assistant National Certification Exam). And that exam doesn't even come until after Graduation #2 on August 8th. They make grad school so complicated.

I'm a Clydesdale!

Do you know what a clydesdale is? Most people do and they wouldn't really want to compare themselves to one. I had no idea what a clydesdale was but I learned by entering in a 5k race last year which has now caused me to compare. When I signed up I just checked off the box by my weight and paid no attention to the division title of clydesdale, which corresponded with my weight. It turns out I didn't do too bad in the race becuase I received a letter a couple weeks later congratulating me on winning my division. I was bragging to Craig about my accomplishment and he warned me NOT to be too proud about it. I was confused and right then he knew I needed a visual. So he pulled up a picture of a Budweiser horse and I immediately understood. He had a good laugh at me but I still think he's proud that he married such a work horse, even if us clydesdales look big and bulky.

Do you see a resemblance? This is one of those horses that pull the carriages you can ride around in NYC. I think I could pull a carriage too. Ha.

Here's me and the "normal" sized horses I ran with. I guess I need a picture every now and then to really see a difference between me and my friends, otherwise I feel like a "normal" horse too.

Even my pregnant friends look like they are normal size.

Christmas Laughs

Christmas this year was full of laughs! Actually, whenever we get together with family we always laugh. It's like all the other emotions just turn off. I think my Mom may have had the most laughs. Maybe because she's married to the goofiest guy. I love that as a quality actually. You all can see for yourself...

I'm sure this has been on a lot of minds as we are in the middle of this Christmas season. I have been thinking about all the Christmases (sp?) past and last year seems to stick out. I have the pictures to back up my reasoning. For Christmas last year, Craig and I bought ourselves a GPS so we wouldn't be terribly lost around here anymore and with the help of family we were able to go home to Utah to see them. We agreed that would be it and we didn't need any more gifts for each other. Well...we both broke the rules. I got Craig a knife sharpening kit that he told me about but had no idea I was actually listening. And I bought him Pirates of the Carribean 3 because he loves Pirates, as you can see from our Haloween costumes. Funny story, which is off the topic, but I accidentaly ended up buying Pirates 2, which we already had, but neither of us realized it until we went to watch it at his Moms house a week later! And his nephew was the one to point it out! We didn't even notice. Ha ha, so back to the story.

It was Christmas Eve and we were flying out in the morning. Before I leave on trips not only do I have to pack, but the entire house must be clean so it's not such a disaster when you get back. Criag doesn't necissarily agree, especially since it was Christmas Eve, we should have been sitting around drinking eggnog. But he helped me clean the house anyway. We were all done and getting ready for bed and Craig semi-scolded me for not turning off the lights on the tree because I was the last one in the living room. He went to turn them out and I asked him to take out the trash. Right when he left I sprinted around to my hiding places to gather up his presents, put them under the tree, turned the tree back on, and went back to bed, my heart pounding with excitement. About 30 seconds later Craig walked in and really scolded me this time for turning the tree lights back on, but about 3 seconds later he found his surprise gifts! His scolding immediately turned into excitement and joy. He was so surprised and happy just to see the gifts, but then when he opened them, he was even more surprised that I remembered about his silly little kit. (ha ha j/k Criag, it's not silly). The look on his face was absolutely priceless! I took these pictures and thought he looked like a little boy on Christmas morning knowing that Santa came the night before. The look on his face is what I want for Christmas every year now. But this year things have been a bit different...we are trying to put that look on others faces by serving and surprising them. It has been so fun, and as it turns out "the look" has been on our faces too! Who knew?! So what will you do to have "the look" this year?

6 Quirks?? I am definitely too normal to be tagged for this. Ha ha, just kidding, but it really took me a while to think of 6 quirky things I do. But here they go....

1) Falling asleep...I always like to fall asleep with the covers tucked around my shoulders with my head sticking out (it can never be under the covers). then I like to swing one leg up and around the covers so just one foot is sticking out. It allows the perfect amount of ventilation through so I don't get too hot and not to stuffy. I think it's genious but Craig thinks it's so weird.

2) Condiments....I hate condiments. I have never liked Mayo, mustard, or ketchup. I prefer most things dry and crunchy. While most people mix tuna with mayo/miracle whip, I use cottage cheese becuase I can't stand the taste and consistency of mayo. While many people like to eat those nachoes you get at gas stations, or at basketball games, completely loaded with cheese so the chips get soggy, I think it is revolting. I would much rather go hungary than eat soggy chips due to nacho cheese. Yuck! I am a texture eater and I like crunch and not sog.

3) Bananas....since I'm thinking about food...I like my bananas yellow with a bit of green around the edges. If there is one brown spot on the skin, it's too ripe and worthy of banana bread.

4) Bone Poppin Routine...My joints pop a lot. I admit I started poping my knuckles when I was young and since then I've learned how to pop may more joints. And now they feel strange if they're not popped from time to time. A lot of times they pop on their own with out any twisting or pushing but a lot is also self inflicted. In fact, I do so much bone poppin I now have a routine. In the morning when I wake up I sit on the side of the bed and twist my back around on both sides and my whole back cracks. Then I tilt my head to one side and the other to pop my neck. Then I stand up and walk to the bathroom and my ankles and feet just start crackin and sometimes my knees and hips. Then when I sit down to empty my bladder, I pop both thumbs and usually the rest of my fingers. After I've been typing or writing a lot I have to again pop my fingers and I move my wrists in a circular motion and there's a lot of little cracks as a result. Sometimes when I stretch my arms out wide and pull them behind my back my chest pops. That one is a bit freaky. Then when I've had my shoes on all day and I finally take them off, I have to pop each one of my toes or else they feel cramped. I blame Craig for that. He just started pullin on my toes one time and now if he pulls one he has to pull them all or I feel really uncomfortable.

5) Multitasking....Normally one would believe this to be a good quality but it has become a type of disease for me. One thing that I've learned by working at Enterprise is that you must continue to do things while the customer you are helping tells you the play by play of the accident they were just in. This has now translated to almost everything I do. One dangerous example is multitasking while driving. I figure I'm just sitting there I might as well be doing something else. So I usually get in the car in the morning, eat breakfast, take off my shoes (it's easier to clutch that way), put on my seatbelt, make a phone call, and catch my huge mug from tipping over all at the same time. The other example has to do with bedtime. When I was younger getting ready for bed meant taking off my clothes and putting on on of my Dad's T-shirts to make a nightgown. Now that I'm afraid I might get cavities and/or acne, I have to do things like take out my contacts, wash my face, and brush my teeth. I don't like doing all these things when I'm dead tired so I try and combine them all at once. I usually paste up my toothbrush and start brushing while I once again, empty my bladder, then I spit and wash my hands at the same time, splash some water on my face for washing, then since my hands are clean it's perfect timing to pop out a lens from each eye. I hurry and wash my face, rince and since my clothes were half off in order to go to the bathroom, I just continue to wiggle out of them while I do all those other things and then, wah-lah, I am basically ready to start sleeping before the toilet bowl even has a chance to fill back up! Amazing, I know!

6) Security...Insead of haveing a blanket or a teddy bear anymore I have a huge purse with everything I could possibly need durning the day in it. It sometimes feels really heavy and I try to clean it out and ditch some things, but I end up leaving everything in there because I worry that once I take it out I'll need it the next day. Such things include a pouch for pens, a nail file, finger nail clippers, a hair pick, hair elastics, hair spray, lotion, germ-X, body spray, deoderant, tums, advil, vitamins, tampons (of course), gum, chap stick, like 4 colors of lip stick, eye drops, a mirror, a pad of paper, tide to go, dental floss, and of course my wallet. Everyone loves me though when they have a headache, or a tummy ache, or a bad hair day, or a hang nail, or dry skin. Heaven forbid these things go on during the day, untreated and endured.

Funny Bike Story

Let me set the background that led up to this tragedy. Okay, Sarah has been doing this triathalon training with her freinds and she wanted a new road bike so that she could train on a bike. The night that we picked the bike up from REI we took it for it's maiden voyage on the canal path behind our house. We had traveled like 7 miles up the path and it was getting dark so we turned around and were hustling back to the house when I noticed something running towards the path. As we got closer I realized that my little running friend was actually a SKUNK coming towards the bike path. I perceded to slamb on my breaks, but Sarah didn't see it in time and ran right over the center of the little guy with both tires. The skunk decided that it was necessary to spray at this time and covered the bike and Sarah's leg with pungent skunk juice. We did not realize the magnitude of how much got on Sarah and the bike until we were riding again and I could smell it wafting off of her as she road in front of me. Luckily when we got home Sarah had some salt scrub that she used to take off all affected layers of skin and she was allowed to sleep inside that night.
